How To Crochet Double Bobble Stitch

How to crochet double bobble stitch

This stitch makes your crochet project look fuller, as if crocheted from heavier yarn, so you can use very lightweight yarn or even thread.

Crochet bobbles are among my most favorite stitches because they give you very nice texture. Whether they are densely clustered one next to another, or just scattered randomly, crochet bobbles will liven up your toys, baby blankets or dresses, tablecloths, doilies or blouses. Its 3D texture will definitely make your crochet piece fuller and more fun. Above all, you can make them from any yarn, lightweight to bulky.

Bobbles are usually crocheted from the wrong side so that they pop up on the right side. However, this technique of crocheting double bobble is a bit different in a way that it pops up less than the regular bobble, and also because it is reversible – the crocheted item looks the same on both sides. I used this stitch for my large Countess Shawl, which can be worn on either side thanks to this reversibility feature.
