The crab stitch is a very pretty, decorative and firm stitch, convenient for edging, just like in the case of Derby Hat. This technique is very simple and you will master it in no time with the video tutorial below.
Normally, you work from right to left. With the crab stitch, just work single stitches backwards – from left to right. Hence the name of this stitch. At the beginning of last round, work the first sc in next stitch as you would usually do, but work every next sc by inserting the hook into the next stitch on the RIGHT from the previous stitch.
