Patchwork table runner "Margaret"

One day my husband complained about having to move and neatly fold big decorative tablecloths (so that they don’t wrinkle up) from our dining table whenever we lay the table for lunch:
– Why don’t you put some small non-wrinkle piece which we can just throw on the chair?
– Well, here it is!
The table runner consists of 10 square pieces which all have a flower motif in the center. The flower is crocheted from 3 different colors, while the outer part of the motif is in beige.
The finished table runner has attached tassels on all corners.
This little crocheted piece of kitchen decor, just like Patchwork Table Runner From Leftover Yarn, is an ideal weekend project, a leisure activity for a time when you want to make something quickly, but also use leftover yarn laying around your stash and making a mess in the house.

Diagram
In the text that follows you will find detailed written instructions for crocheting the square motifs for this patchwork table runner. However, if you find it easier to crochet by looking at diagrams, you’ll find one below.
Motif A
Break yarn, weave in end.
Motifs B, C, D, E
Work like motif A but follow the color order as indicated above.
Join motifs from the wrong side according to the schematic, by inserting the hook in back loops only.
Finishing
Make 8 tassels from different colors and attach them to the corners of the table runner. For each tassel use 20 pieces of yarn, about 25 cm long. Fold them in half, and tie 2-3 cm from the fold with a new piece of yarn. Sew the tassels onto the finished table runner by wrapping yarn around the fold. Trim the ends of tassels with scissors to make them even.
Spray the finished piece with water, press over a clean, cotton cloth and leave to dry.
